find biggest file on hard drive

    Someone has done this, right?

My Word97 template went bad and created a couple of 200+MB *.TMP files, so I and my computer quickly ran out of space.

It seems to me that a periodic review of the biggest files on my physical hard drive (20G dividied into 20 2G partitions) would be a reasonable thing to do.

Before I write the world's biggest DOS batch file to do this, or dash off a quick Word97 VBA application, does anyone have any nifty tricks, or is using a free utility that will perform such an analysis?

The Find utility will do that for you....click on the advaced tab and specify a minimum file size. Once it's done searching, you can click on the size column to sort in ascending or descending order.

    "(20G dividied into 20 2G partitions)" 20/2=1 or 20/2=10 but with the new math 20/20=40. who knows <img src=/S/devil.gif border=0 alt=devil width=15 height=15>

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Perect! Thank you. This weekend's Defrag promises to be a doozy now that I have located and deleted three 200MB Tmp files, amongst others.

See, I know that I tend to write a program and ask questions later. Your suggestion saved me at least four hours crafting out a quick'n'dirty in VBA!

    Thanks again.

PCMCIA" programmers can't mathematically calculate intervals accurately when they've spent the afternoon watching Word crash every time they insert a few lines of code ....

You're right, as usual, it's TEN partitions of 2G each.
