Delete record with corrupt memo field (A2K SR1)

Hi.

Had mdb front end problems (trying to modify switchboard) which has led to back end corruption. I've only found one corrupted record so far, which I cannot delete - I get a 'search key not found in any record' error.
The one gremlin field I cannot alter is the memo field.

Any suggestions as to how I can sort out the problem?

Thanks

What do you mean by you can't delete the record? If you open the table and move to that record, can you not delete it? How are you trying to locate that record?

I don't see what a switchboard has to do with back end data coruption.

Re: Delete record with corrupt memo field (A2K SR1)

Hi.

I open up the table in the backend mdb file, highlight the relevant record, and then click on the delete this record option. That is when the error message appears.

The particular field in the record which seems to be causing the problem is one of two memo fields. I can 'isolate' the record - park it where it does not relate to anything important - but I cannot delete it.

As to the switchboard connection - I was editing the switchboard in my copy of the front end mdb file whilst another user was editing the record in question, using his copy of the front end located on his pc hard drive. How my switchboard and front end crashing can have affected him is beyond me, but the whole thing crashed, and we ended up with this corrupt record at the back end........

I hope that makes things a bit clearer

Re: Delete record with corrupt memo field (A2K SR1)

I have once such a undeletable record.
The only way to remove it from the table, was creating a new table with the same structure, and append all the records, before and after the corrupted record. I did it with two append query's with condition ID < ID of corrupted record and ID > ID of corrupted record. Then I deleted the old table and rename the new one.
Hope this help.

That makes sense - sounds like a job for a quiet (HAHAHA) day.

Thanks a lot
