    FAT 32

Is it worth updating to FAT 32 or is it likely to cause problems? I am running a small LAN and I gather this will improve performance on the client/server.

Is it worth upgrading to FAT32? Over what, FAT16? The answer is a resounding yes. You'll waste far less disk space and it will support larger hard drives.

Will it improve performance on your client/server? If you can notice a difference, I would be surprised. The only time I could see the file system making a difference is if you have a large LAN and heavy access to a dedicated file server.

If you are looking to tweak LAN performance, you would be best off looking into optimizing your network cards and the connectivity between them - such as 10/100 connections. 100 is better, because it's a fatter pipe for the data.
