    Metadata (Word 97 )

There's a lot of talk about removing metadata from a document. We are very careful not to put information into the summary fields (we substitutde our firm name for each field as the document closes to be sure), and delete any and all custom properties. We warn users as a document closes when the document contains comments, revisions, or when track changes is on. How can we delete the information about the last 10 authors? We deal with the Author built-in property, but how do we access that list of 9 previous authors?

Routing slip.... Is it sufficient to use ActiveDocument.HasRoutingSlip = False to remove pertinent information?

    Thanks.

The Payne Metadata Assistant will either remove the last 10 authors or replace their names with asterisks. I have not investigated the pricing on that.

What I do is "clone" the document by pretending it's a template. See Post #85627 for the VBA code.

That would certainly do the trick, but we have 400 users who wouldn't be able to manage that. We also need to maintain the document name and version with the DMS.
