Trouble with section breaks (97)

We have some documents that have section breaks to separate portrait and landscape pages. Our problem is we put in Section Break Next Page and sometimes word turns one of the Section Break Next Page into a odd page break. How frustrating! Any ideas on why this happens or how to prevent it from happening. We have no choice about this, these documents cannot be split apart into separate documents.

    From this thread-- Post 53612

    This is a "known" issue.

Here is the solution we have used for this problem:

When you insert a Next Page break, then immediately change the page orientation, Word assumes that you really wanted an Odd or Even Break and changes what you put in.

Insert your Section Break or go immediately past the one you have already inserted, then go to File, Page Setup, Layout and at the Section Start field, change the setting to New Page. Then, and only then, change the page orientation.

Save or repaginate your document and your Next Page break will re-appear.
