    Find Non-bold Italic Text (Word 2000 sr1)

How do I find italicized text that is not bold? The font style box allows me to either search for italics or "not bold". Is there a way to apply both formats to a single search?

    Hi Jefferson,

Very neat trick!! I always used to write a macro in cases like this.

Very useful -- we use the "More" options all the time -- note that you can find (and replace) just about anything here -- including Styles.

The follow up question we always get is, now how do I turn off Formatting find?

Well, open Find, make sure More is displayed, then click the "No Formatting" button on the lower left.

    Very useful, indeed... but unfortunately you can't search for Format > Font > Bold+Not Italic (or Not Bold + Italic) <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15>

    So you need Jefferson's work-around, or a macro (.Bold=True, .Italic=False...).

If you use the menu, no (er, I don't know how -- multiple select doesn't work), but if you use the keystrokes, yes -- as posted above by Jefferson. I don't know I'd classify it as a "workaround" being a keyboard fanatic myself -- but it's definitely a handy tip.

    (E.g. [Ctrl B], then [Ctrl I] [Ctrl I] = Bold+Not Italic)
