    'Relay' setting on server (OL2000)

I use OL at work instead of Groupwise, which everyone else is using. All was well (for years) till all of my outgoing email was returned "access denied" recently. The tech wizard says all he knows is that the setting for "relay" was taken off the server.
Anyone know what happened here, and how I can get around it?

Re: 'Relay' setting on server (OL2000)

A couple of KB's that may help:
OL2000: SMTP Relay Blocking Error Sending E-mail (Q214402)
OL2000: Error Message "An unknown error was returned from the SMTP server." (Q223477)

It sounds like the domain in the email address you are using does not match that of the server.

if you always use the same workstation, the admin will need to add it to groupwise to allow relay from it. There is nothing that I'm aware of that you can change on your own, it is controlled by the server settings, which they removed.

Have been meaning to thank you for your response; the KB's were right on the mark.
However, when the LAN wizards tried to monkey with the settings and addresses on my machine (notice the server wasn't part of their plan), the resultant crash (that word doesn't nearly do justice to it) has taken a week to recover from, and still not fully.
    Belated thanks.
