auto-archive -excluding some mail (2000 SR 1)

I use auto-archive to delete all posts in a folder older than 1 week, but there are some posts I want to keep. Is there a way of flagging them that stops them being archived despite being more than 7 days old?

Don't really want to put them in a different folder

Open up the email message that you don't want autoarchived ... and then choose File-Properties, and check the Do not Autoarchive this item check box:

Gosh that's a lot of work. What if you could select them in the Inbox and click a button?

Here's a fragile VBA routine that will check the box. It is fragile in the sense that it is completely blind to current conditions, assumes you have selected the messages you want to tag, and likely will crash and burn if conditions are not as anticipated. If you want to go this way, you can add error checking as errors arise.

Sub NoArchive()
Dim msg As MailItem
For Each msg In ActiveExplorer.Selection
msg.NoAging = True
msg.Save
Next
End Sub
