    'Properties not available' message (2000)

We are trying to change user information in Outlook. Right-clicking on the desktop icon and selecting "Properties" usually brings up "MS Exchange Settings", but instead we are getting error message "Properties not available for this icon." Anyone know why this would be happening?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Can you get at it from the mail program in control panel? Have you tried turning off virus protection?

Well... one possibility is that this is not the right kind of shortcut. Some Outlook shortcuts have an intimate relationship with the program, while others are merely ordinary shortcuts that run a command.

If it is the more knowing shortcut, maybe it is broken. Try accessing Mail (or Mail and Fax, as the case may be) under Start > Settings > Control Panel and see if you can change the settings from there.
