Copy from table in Word 2000, line ends lost (Word 2000 SR-1)

I've discovered the following bit of weirdness in Word 2000.

Select the contents of a table cell which contains at least one paragraph mark or manual line end. Copy, then paste into another application. The line ends are missing.

I encountered this while pasting addresses into my electronic postage program, but I get the same result pasting into Notepad. I assume it will happen with any application except Word itself, and possibly other Office applications.

The only workaround I've found is to paste the text back into Word outside the table, then copy it again.

    I wonder whether -

    - Anyone else has encountered this problem in Word 2000?
    - Anyone has encountered this problem in Word XP?
    - Anyone knows a fix?

I have encountered this problem pasting into an Outlook 2000 message. I have no idea why Word is doing this, and that makes it difficult to think of a work-around

Microsoft says this only happens when pasting as unformatted text. I'm don't have access to Word 2K right now to test this. Apparently, this is a design "feature". See
WD2000: Selection Runs Together After Pasting as Unformatted Text (Q224624)

Please post back & let me know if that helps.

I read the Microsoft notice you mentioned, and it certainly seems to relate to the problem I have, but it doesn't describe the specific situation at all.

Inside Office the workaround they describe is unnecessary, because pasted text looks fine. Outside Office the workaround is unusable, because other applications don't have a Paste Special command! I tried using "Paste from the menu" in my postage program as they suggested, but its result was no different from any other type of paste, and I can't imagine any reason why it would be.

If Word XP behaves the same way, somebody should twist Microsoft's tail really hard.
