Internet Explorer 5.5

I just want to find out if anyone else is having this problem, people in our ISD group don't think that is too much of a problem. When running Internet Explorer 5.5 (without the patch), using Windows 98, if a have a .pdf file open and then I want to hit the back button to review the list of all the .pdf files (official certificates) and then I click on another .pdf file that I want to open, the file doesn't open, it just sits there. This happened to me and I installed the patch IE5.5 sp1 and it fixed it. My office seems to think that this is an unnecessary step (installing the patch). Also, do you have to install original 5.5 before you install the patch or can you just install the ie5.5sp1 program?

    Re: Internet Explorer 5.5

5.5SP1 should contain *most* of the patches available up to that point.

I generally recommend installing a patch from microsoft if/when it becomes available. True, Microsoft has dispersed TONS of needless procedures in the past, but I figure it wouldn't exist if it wasn't necessary to someone.

I've heard that 5.5 has some serious problems however, I have been using it for Months without incident, but I generally recommend reverting to 5.01 if problems persist.

    hope this helps!
