    Absolute Ruler (97, 2000)

Is there any way to make the rulers in Word simply display an absolute measurement, e.g., inches from the left of the page or from the top of the page? So I can directly pick off the location of an object on the page in inches from the left or top edge of the paper?

    Thanks,

    Fred Holmes

    Hi Fred

It depends on what you want to do:
If you are moving table borders or tabs on the ruler, simply press the ALT key while doing so and you get a special ruler showing inches.

If you want to move objects (e.g a free floating picture). Select Format/Picture from the Menu and choose the layout tab. (In Word 2k you additionally have to press the advanced button on the layout tab.)
