    percent character in posts

If you take a look at my response to this post you may observe a weird character immediately preceding occurences of the string "bug".

I have posted one of my infamous DOS BATch files; in most of which I have a debugging option. I use a DOS environment switch "DEBUG" to control whether or not I trace commands. The debug switch is, of course, embraced in percent signs.

The Lounge seems to interpret a percent sign followed by the letter "d" in a special way.

    Chris,
A quick test appears to show it is % followed by 'de' not just 'd'.
But I still don't know why it is happening exactly.

Thanks Leif. My guess would be that the Lounge software has a meta-language lurking there, and that percent-DElete or something similar is available. It does seem to change the format of the following character somewhat. Anthony Newley may be Germane? ("I was not prepared for marriage, I would catch a boat from Harwich, but I don't sppeak any d-u-c-h dutch" "You don't spell dutch that way" "Oh, how do you spell it?" "DE-utsch").

Maybe the engine that handles markup is telling you to stop posting infamous batch files, Chris! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
