This is no built in/default direct keyboard shortcut for viewing the task pane. However Alt+v, k (Alt+V for the View menu, then "k" to select Task Pane) will do this.
If you want to create a keyboard shortcut: Tools, Customize. Click keyboard. In the list of categories choose "View". Under commands scroll to ViewTaskPane. Click in the "Press new shortcut key:" box, and press the keys you want to use. If the combination you choose is already in use, it will show you that. When you get a combination you want, click on Assign.
Hi Merwyn:
One general technique that you can use to determine or assign shortcut keys is to press Alt+Ctrl+Num pad plus. The cursor turns into a clover. Then click on the menu (& submenu, if necessary) then the menu command or a toolbar button. The keyboard shorcut dialog box pops up & will tell you what, the shortcut key is, if any. It will also let you change or assign a key.
Hope this helps.
