Boss put a password in doc and can't remember it (Word 2000)

My boss saved a template with a password and cannot remember the password now that he has to edit the template. Is there a way to copy or save a form field-saved document that will allow me to make a duplicate, unprotected form?

    Thank you for your assistance.

FWIW: I just tried a test where I saved a copy of a password-protected document as an rtf file; then opened it in WordPad. Password protection was lost. I then resaved the file as Word file and opened it again in Word. No password issues, but some formatting was lost. <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16> Give it a try.

BTW: This was all done using Word 2000 SR1a

Even better, open the RTF file in Word. You can then save the file as a new Word document without a password (or a password you can remember)!

Funny -- I tried opening the rtf into Word, but the password was still active. I'll have to test that again.
