screen saver issue

a friend (running WIN 98 SE) claims his screen saver does not work unless he connects to the internet and then disconnects. He says if he simply turns his computer on and does not go online, his screen saver does not come on. He has the screen saver set to go on after 5 minutes. Once he goes online, the screen saver works just fine. Any suggestions?

What screen saver is he using?
Try setting the time to one minute and see if it works

A third party type may need to go to the internet for a daily update.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Edited by WyllyWylly on 18-Apr-02 23:58.
Sounds like your friend is running a "Spyware" screensaver. Tell them to go here: http://www.lsfileserv.com/ and download Ad-aware v5.71. It's a program. Install and run it and I'll bet that the screensaver program is listed in the results. They will then have to weigh how much they like the screensaver against how much they care who is looking over their shoulder when they are at the computer.
