    random autonumbers all positives (2002/SR-1)

I want to use a random autonumber for a conference database I am building. But I want the random numbers to be all positive. Is there a way to tell the autonumber where to start and/or what range to use?

You can't do this with autonumbers. Random autonumbers will be both positive and negative. Sequential autonumbers can be made to start at a specific number by putting a dummy record in the table. However, the general rule of thumb is that if you are going to make the number available to the user, then you probably shouldn't be using an autonumber. Better to create your own number.
