See if you have the setting to hang up after sending and receiving in the Options, Connection tab.

Thanks Dave, I think that might be it.
Although this has fixed the troubles with Outlook Express disconnecting, the other disconnection occurs after some websites have been viewed in Internet Explorer and then Outlook Express is started. It's the opening of Outlook Express that disconnects? Next thing to try I guess is to have them both running and then connect.

Check to see if it is working "Off line"?
