Yes. I move old mails to another Inbox folder. But how can that be connected to my problem?

did you name those folders inbox? if not, there should be files named the name you used.dbx. The inbox folders are all you "lost" inboxes and you can recover the messages using a utility from http://www.tomsterdam.com. look for dbxtract.

Now it seems to me that it must be somehow connected to the MS KB Q314421 article.

    ah yes, the evil macafee bug. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> i think there is a patch for it at macafee, but it won't recover the missing messages. <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>

I just had the same thing happen! I save all of the woodys office watches in a folder. Everything was fine with email all day. Then I updated Mcafee to the newest definitions. I also defraged by d drive. Now the office watch folder in Outlook Express is totally empty. I looked at the actual dbx file, and its the same size as the outbox (which has nothing in it) so I guess its all gone for good

I often restore my corrupted .dbx folders with the DBXtract tool from http://chattanooga.net/~scochran/DBXtract.htm

    Cheers, Di
