    Exel divides by 100? (2000)

This is an odd one. Whatever file is open, be it a completely new file, one created elsewhere, or whatever, any number typed in to any cell will be divide by 100 by Excel on enter.
The only way around it at the moment, other than increasing the number itself) is to put = before the number.
I've looked in options, formatting, & I can't recall where else, but have found nothing that could account for this annoying behavour.
    Any idea?

Select Options from the Tools menu. Click on the Edit Tab. Remove the Check Mark next to "Fixed Decimal."
