    Pasting links in Outlook (any?)

This is bugging me, and I can't find mention of this anywhere. I'd appreciate any pointers.

The problem is this: I can pick up a pathname and or filename from windows explorer, and paste it into an outlook message, and everything works just fine. For instance:

    testsomethingsomethingelsethisdoc.doc

Recipients of the message (within our domain obviously) can click on the link, and grab the document. Unfortunately, a number of the locations on our network contain spaces in the path, and/or the filename and the result is something like this:

    testsomethingsomething with a spacetest.doc

and of course this is no longer a valid link, and recipients cannot click it to retrieve the doc. I've tried replacing the spaces with escape characters , but that doesn't work.

I don't have control over the naming conventions on the network, so I can't enforce space-less naming.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks

    Jim

    I do this: <serversharepath with spacefilename.doc>

OL then makes it clickable. My format is plain text. Results in other formats may vary.

It should work if you put ' ' in place of each space. This is fairly labor intensive, but it works for me. Also, once you have replaced the characters, go to the end of the path and hit enter. This seems to activate the link or inform outlook that it is a link. Others probably know the reasons...

    I hope this helps,

are you putting quotes around the space or did you put in percent twenty, but not spelled out? <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

No quotes in the link itself. I just put them in for clarity in the post. Guess it didn't work! <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

I bow before the assembly of wisdom in here. Once again my problem has been solved. And this is the best solution.

    Many thanks.
