    Windows Task Manager (Home)

A few months ago, I somehow managed to get rid of the main menu bar on my Windows Task Manager (the screen that comes up when you hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete). All I have is a list of the programs running and the buttons to end a task. I tried lots of random key combinations to see if I could get the menu back, and couldn't find anything that worked. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are there any tabs near the top of the pane? If so pik the different ones and see if that is what you are missing.

nope...no tabs. They disappeared with the menu. I can tab between the different screens (Tasks, Processes, etc) by using Ctrl + Tab, but the little tabs that used to be there, as well as the menu, are gone. I don't even have a little x to close the window. I have to use the Esc key.

This looks like a great problem for MS. If you have a "Passport" or will sign ip for one at MS go to (note you must be on line):
    Start
    Help and Support Center
    Get help from Microsoft
Ask a MS professional for help

Then just follow the instructions. If you do post the with MS let us know how it goes.

If this is like TaskManager in W2K, simply double-click in the top margin of the TM window to restore the tabs.
To get it back to how it is now, double click in the space to the right of the tabs.

If you double-click in the gray area at the bottom of the window (near the End Process button, it will restore the menu.

I believe the intent of this "feature" was to allow you to maintain one view (applications, processes, or performance) in a stay-on-top view for troubleshooting or monitoring - but that's speculation.
