Someone's Changing my Home Page (6.0.026)

A few days ago I started losing my home page -- instead of my "normal" default page, I'd get a message that someone had put a script into my computer and changed it to "cool-xxx" something. It advised me to delete some system files, which I thought was unwise.

I've changed the home page back a few times, but every time I reboot, it changes the home page back to that annoying page and message.

    Any thoughts?

Fire up "MSConfig" and see what is loading at startup. Clear any thing that you do NOT want started. Remember that you need "Explorer" always to be running.
If in dout post a listing of what is listed and we will try and help you out.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Dave:

Thanks for the message, but being a moron, I don't know how to "fire up" MSCongig -- can you clue me in? I'm running Windows 2000 on a Dell INspiron 3700 laptop.

    Thanks!

Start button | Run... | msconfig | Enter

But that may not solve your problem. I recommend you look at this:
    Hijacked!
