    Lost Calendar (2000/SR-1)

I can no longer access the Calendar in Outlook 2000, SR-1. Clicking only results in the hourglass spinning endlessly. All other icons can be opened.

I tried the Help> Detect and Repair... to no avail.

    Please advise.

Try running the Inbox repair tool, aka scanpst.exe, on your pst file. Right click the Outlook Today Icon in your folder list, click Properties>Advanced and look at the path to find the location of the pst file, then close Outlook and run the Inbox Repair Tool.

This should tell whether you have a pst file or not.

    regards

    Oh, that looked so promising <img src=/S/bummer.gif border=0 alt=bummer width=15 height=15>
The first time I ran the scanpst.exe there was a hopeful message that minor errors were found, so I clicked Repair.

I still couldn't open the Calendar, so I ran it again - no errors were found, but the Calendar still would not open.

    I sure hope there's another fix-it <img src=/S/dizzy.gif border=0 alt=dizzy width=15 height=15>

Try exporting just the calendar to a personal folders file(pst). The Click File>Open>Personal Folders and select the file you just created with export process.

try renaming outcmd.dat... if that doesn't help, start outlook with the /cleanreminders switch.

    start menu | run, type:
    outlook.exe /cleanreminders

Hmm... I didn't know what to rename outcmd.dat as *but* the /cleanreminders thing pitched a fit from the Run command : -(

    Hope there's another solution.

That was hopeful, Dan, but Outlook still froze : -(
Should I export my Contacts and "Mail" (?), remove Outlook, reload it, then import contacts.xls and mail.xls?

rename it anything you want - or delete it.

    Re: Lost Calendar (2000/SR-1)

Still frozen... I renamed the file to no avail.
A < svchost.exe > file is giving me trouble, too, so it looks like a major backup with a complete do-over seems to be the only way out. This may also enable me to make use of Outlook's Mail Merge feature where I can send "form email" rather than a big list of BCC.

As Gilda Radner used to say, "It's always something."

    Thanks : -)

    Hi Scott!
It sound like you have a corrupt "frmcache.dat" Close Outlook and search for frmcache.dat and delete it, if you have several profiles setup on your PC you might have several frmcache.dat delete all of them and restart Outlook. A new frmcache.dat is automatically created when outlook is restarted.

    Regards
    Lasse B

Task MAnager still says Outlook is not responding (sigh), but I'm grateful for your response!

    Thanks!

did you use /cleanviews yet? you'll lose all custom views.. and if it doesn't work you'll need to call MS for a tool to delete the bad calendar item.
