    Count text cells? (97)

I want to count the number of rows in a range. The cells in the range contain non-numeric data, so the Count() function does not work, as it only counts numeric data. Is there a similar function that counts all rows, not just rows with numeric data? I tried fooling with Countif(), but could not figure out what condition to test for.

COUNTA() is probably what you are looking for. If Counts all non blanks cells. If you also want blank cells included you coud use =COUNTA(range)+COUNTBLANK(range).

The Excel function to count Rows as per your post is simply to use
    =Rows(myrange)
