For many users it's trickier to close using the "x's" now. It sure is harder to explain to new users! Here is a link to a download that will let you change the "x's" to the way they worked in previous versions.
Make Word 2000 Behave Like Word 97
<hr>"Microsoft changed the Word 2000 interface to act more like a browser. Open a 'page' (document) and a button appears in the Windows Taskbar. In Excel 2000 and PowerPoint 2000, they provided a Tools | Options setting to let you toggle the Windows in Taskbar on or off, but not in Word. Long-time Word forum member, Romke Soldaat, created this Word template: 'Windows in TaskBar.dot' to let you have the same toggle option. He has let us offer it here for you. You can have the Word 2000 Single Document interface (SDI) act more like the earlier version's (MDI) interface." Other Word add-ins are available here, too (including a replacement for the Autocorrect macros supplied with Macros8.dot and Macros9.dot; fixes the bugs contained in the Microsoft-supplied macros).
