    XP won't restart (XP Home)

When I click restart in the shutdown screen, XP shuts down and continues forever in black screen idle, but won't restart. Using the option to shut off, it works ok although I must turn it back on. It worked ok before a power outage while shutting off.

How do I fix this? I have a factory installed XP and not a full disk.

Presuming you have a new computer under warranty, contact your computer vendor.

Otherwise, check your BIOS settings - is Advanced Power Management enabled? Then, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and choose Shutdown button | Shutdown and Restart option. If it doesn't work, check your BIOS update (you can start from http://driverzone.com/bios.html) and install it; if it not the case, reinstall Windows.

Thanks, I will see if I can foul it up this weekend. I'd better hurry while it is still in warranty. I will advise.
