Merging/Combing Word files

I can't seem to find an easy way to merge 20 different documents into one. Any simple suggestions? Thanks!

If you feel like going to a command prompt, you could copy them into one single file using a statement like this:

COPY COCS*.DOC COCSONEBIG1.DOC

Never tried it with anything but text files so I can't speak to its efficacy. Can't hurt to try though.

    Heather,

I think there was a thread on this some time ago but a quick search on "merge" didn't find it. You might have better luck than me if you try the search feature.

I don't think the DOS command line solution will work with Word docs. Word docs have a lot of stuff other than just the text you type. Using the DOS solution will literally put all the files together, including that other stuff.

If this is a 1-time thing, you can just do Insert | File. With this approach, you have to look for all your files one at a time. If this is something you will do very often, then a VBA macro would be in order.

Perhaps the macro from the thread "Re: Concatenating files" will help.
