View/Status Bar

Recently Internet Explorer V5 stopped automatically displaying the Status Bar. Now every time I start Internet Explorer if I want the Status Bar I have to open the View menu and click on the Status Bar. Does anyone know what happened, and what I can do to get the Status Bar to STAY ON.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Rod

Re: View/Status Bar

I tried the (1) suggestion and it did solve my problem regarding keeping the Status Bar in view and I am thankful for the ease in which this problem was solved. I'm sure I would have never figured this out myself.

So I am now a fan of the WOPR Lounge and must give a big thanks to RIL.

Re: View/Status Bar

Hi RIL:
Thank you very much for this tip. I had the problem for a long time (with IE 5.5, so there's no upgrade) & could never find the answer. I tried everything, even editing the registry. Ocassionally, it would correct itself, then crop up again. Now, I've got a solution.

Thanks again.

Wow! Two happy friends on one tip! That makes me feel great!

By the way, this tip can also be used in the Windows Explorer when it has trouble remembering if the status bar should be on or off.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Forcing View/Status Bar in IE

I seem to remember encountering this bug in the past.

Two suggestions:

1) Turn the status bar on, change the IE window size slightly, and then close the IE window by holding a Shift key and then clicking on the little "X" in the upper right hand corner of the IE window.

2) If #1 doesn't work, try updating to 5.0 SP1 or 5.5 SP1.
