Where did the source go? (2002)

Once upon a time, I used to be able (if I put on my miner's helmet and went and burrowed around in many deep dark layers of options & properties, only coming up for air every three weeks, and for food every four [you've been there - you know what I mean!]) to look at the source of a message.

Since I swapped to 2002, I can't find it any more!

I've dug & delved, burrowed and scrabbled, but to no avail. It looks like dynamite might be the only answer...

But seriously, how can I view the source of an HMTL email without having to first save it to disk and then inspecting it and (hopefully) all without inadvertently running it [I wanted to inspect a possible virus, in case you were wondering, which Outlook thoughtfully decided not to run for me].

To summarise, then: where has the d*mn thing gone!

The only thing I know to do is - if it is showing in the preview pane - right_click the preview and select View Source.
But I guess you may have preview pane turned off?

<P ID="edit" class=small>Edited by DaveA on 24-Apr-02 09:43.</P>I am running Windows XP Pro and Office 2002. If I right click the email in the preview pane I get a "View Source" selection. But it does have to be HTML format.

Is this what you are wanting to do?

    Sorry Leif, I did not read your post very well <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

did you use outlook or outlook express before? outlook's only method of viewing source is to right click on the message body (either preview or opened) or to save it to the HD as html and change the extension to txt.

With express, it's really easy to view the source.

    Aha! That'd be the one!

I looked and looked and looked and never even saw it!!

Oh well - I guess my brain must be too highly trained (to coin a phrase).

    Thanks.
