Importing Excel 'Pivot Table' (Access 97)

We were sent an excel spreadsheet that is organized into an outline (pivot table?). The first set of columns identified individuals and the following set gives dates and amount of gift.
The individual data is in one row and the donation data is in subsequent rows and the number of rows varies. There is no common identifier.
Is there a way to import this kind of data into access?

Is the data outlined (i.e, subtotals) or a pivot table (two different things). It sounds as if the data is in subtotals.

If in subtotals, place your cursor in Cell A1, In the Main Menu, select Data, Subtotals, Remove All Subtotals and you will see the data set. You should be able to import the dataset into Access and work with the data.
