    cannot see a TT font (Word 97 SR2 on Win 2000 SP2)

I have an old Word doc, think it started life as Word 2, that made use of the MS LineDraw font to create a graph. I have MS LineDraw available on my PC but Word 97 does not show it in the fonts list and uses Times New Roman instead. Consequently the graph is not a pretty sight.

File compatibility tells me that no font substitution is necessary because all fonts are available, I agree but how can I format the now Times Roman characters back to MS LineDraw if LineDraw is on my PC and visible to other applications (eg Excel) but Word won't list it?

    Suggestions please.

    (definitely) stuck

This is by design. Microsoft, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that MS LineDraw is not necessary any more in Word 97 and up, since many Unicode fonts provide box drawing characters. Of course, it's a pain in the ... if you have older documents that you want to update.

See the following KB articles: Q163059 and Q179422.

Thanks for the prompt response. Somehow I'm not surprised by this 'advance'.

Serve's me right for being so long in the tooth. Ah well, on with the editing...
