    Strange Comments Behavior (W2000 SR-1)

A user in my workgroup was trying to Insert Comments. He started his comments with "..." and his system crashed with the message "The instructions at 0x3876a63e referenced memory at 0x0000000. The memory could not be read."

Does anybody have any idea what happened? When he doesn't use "...", everything works fine.

    Thanks,
    Bob

That's definitely weird. Typing ... triggers an AutoCorrect entry that replaces it with an unnecessary ... character. Maybe there's a problem with AutoCorrect in Comments?? Have the user try deleting that AutoCorrect definition and see if it fixes the problem.

    Hi Bob:
I've had similar messages occasionally, but unrelated to inserting commnets. They seem to have been a Windows issue. Deleting temp files, closing other applications, running scandisk, &/or rebooting generally has solved the problem.
