    WIN95 RPC error

I'm running Windows 98 and each time I shut down the machine, I get an error message with the heading "WIN95 RPC Wmsg Window" indicating that the program is not responding. If I don't see the message, the shut down never continues and I have to manually intervene to complete the shutdown. I can't remember if I started out with Win95 and later installed Win98. This is not a major problem, just an annoyance.

    Ken,

I think you will find your solution at the following URL:

    http://the-it-mercenary.com/forums/Help/posts/1144.html

There is a wealth of resources at the other end of that link. Essentially, you need to trim the programs loading at startup using MSCONFIG, particularly any Office apps that may be loading. AOL Instant Messenger can also cause this problem (imagine, AOL software acting screwy).

Good luck, and let us know how you make out!
