    dial up problem (2000)

Several times I have previewed a recieved Email in Outlook 2000 (Windows 98) which was blank, and then had Windows dial up manager ask me if I wanted to log off. Repeated Norton AV scans (with updated defn files) can't detect any viruses on my system. Any ideas what is going on? Would this be a Windows problem? an Outlook problem? an attempt at infection by a virus somehow? Thanks.

most likely the email had html content and needed to connect to the internet to completely load the message. if you have autodial enabled, it will do it automatically, although generally you'll notice the dialing.
