Where are the icons filed which appear on the desktop, taskbar, and quicklaunch - and which is the best icon editor?
    All help gratefully received!

    Re: icon file locations?

The first part of your question doesn't have a short answer. Windows icons - those that represent files, folders, My Computer and several others - are usually stored in .DLL files. Particularly, the SHELL32.DLL file contains most of them. Other programs supply their own icons. They can be in the form of an EXE file, an ICO file (which is a single icon), an a DLL among others.

Now, that best editor thing....whatta can of worms that could be. <img src=/S/flee.gif border=0 alt=flee width=25 height=25> I prefer Microangelo for icon editing, and IconForge is a second fave. There are a ton of icon editors out there. Rather than say "which is the best" I'm going to provide a few useful links to let you decide on your own, and if someone in the Lounge has a favorite, they can post it as well.
