If it has a LARGE amount of sent email, it may take a long time to open. What do you do to get out of the Hung process?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

There are only 23 messages in the sent folder. If I click on it the programs fails to respond and I have to end task and restart OE

close outlook express, rename the folder and use dbxtract to recover sent message if needed.

reopen OE and it'll create a new sent folder.

Thanks Mary. If I close OE how can I rename the sent folder. I can't see it in windows explorer.
Also how do I use dbxtract?

from OE, tools | options | maintainance | store folder button. Take note of the location - cheat and copy the address, then paste it into the address bar of a browser or the start meny | run command line. This will open windows explorer to that folder.

In the folder, you'll find a bunch of files, one for each folder in OE, all ending in .dbx. rename the sent one.

(if your deleted folder is empty, delete the deleted folder file and the outbox. OE will recreate them. )

Now... open OE. It *should* work (we hope ). Get dbxtract and run it it's pretty much self explanatory and will tell you want it need. Choose the file you renamed and dbxtract take every message in the file and create a file on your hard drive. Then drop these individual *.eml files into the new sent folder. Or at least the ones you need.
