Toolbar Customizations Won't Stick (Outlook 2000 SR-1)

The customizations I make to my Outlook toolbars will take effect while Outlook is running--but if I shut down Outlook and restart it, all of my toolbar changes are lost! My toolbars are being "remembered" in other Office applications (such as Word 2000); I'm just seeing this problem with Outlook.

Anyone out there have this experience or know a solution? (Other than "don't shut down Outlook!") Thanks!

Are these custom toolbars within a new mail message?

or general toolbar customizations? I have an idea you may need to use File > Exit and not use the top-right X to quit.

These are just general toolbar setting, not the toolbar within a mail message I'm reading or sending.

For example, I don't like any text labels on my icons, so I go in (right-click the toolbar, choose Customize) and turn them all off. Then I drag some new commands to my toolbar, and close the customization dialog.

By the way, I just tried using File/Exit instead of the top-right X to quit; and now they're all gone again! HELP! <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>

The solution was to shut down Outlook, rename the file "outcmd.dat", and start Outlook back up again. I made my customizations, and they are now sticking! (Doesn't matter if I do File -> Exit, or hit the little X in the top-right corner, the settings are staying!)
