    Debugging Converted script (ACC97)

I just received a database which was converted to ACC97, as it is my only version.
On opening this project, there is an error when calling the switchboard, in particular the object itself.
It claims that it had converted all of the VBA code for me to my current version, yet the object is still not found.
Application.CurrentProject.Connection is apparently an undefined user object.
I've tried saving and compiling all modules as instructed but that doesn't work.
currentproject is not a member of the application object according to the object browser.
All of the references are present.
    Any ideas?

Ammendment: I've spoken with the customer and it seems that she used a wizard to create it.
The problem is with theFill Options procedure...and of course ever subsequent call in this class module.

Application.CurrentProject.Connection is used because it was build with ADO.
Open a module in design view and select Tools, References and select Microsoft ActiveX Data Object xxx Library.

Thanks, Francois, but that's already active...or at least version 2.1.
Is there a later version I need to use?

    Re: Debugging Converted script (ACC97)

I rarely use ADO so I know not much about it.
    I have version 2.5 and I know about version 2.6 and 2.7.
In many posts Charlotte says version 2.7 is not working well.
I don't know if those versions are compatible with Access 97.
Maybe Charlotte or Wendel will have more to say about this when they log in.
Sory that I can't help you more.

    Thanks for all your help.
    I'll consult the book of Oracle...er Microsoft <img src=/S/bif.gif border=0 alt=bif width=70 height=28>
and see what versions of ADO are compatible with ACC 97.
    Thanks again

After consulting the MS site it finally dawned on me.
Make a new switchboard and reference the items in the switchboard table. <img src=/S/doh.gif border=0 alt=doh width=15 height=15>

That's actually the best approach. Access 97 and ADO v2+ don't know anything about each other, so changing the switchboard to DAO is the best approach, which is what Access 97 does when it builds a switchboard. I learned this the hard way a couple of weeks ago when things got funny on a 2000 database that had been built in 2002.

So far I've never seen anything at all amusing about an A2k database built in AXP, Wendell. Peculiar, yes, amusing , no!

Sorry - I was using funny in the "strange" sort of vein - and I was really sorry I had chosen to use XP to build the database in question!

They are really trying to cram this 'outside' designed interface down my throat.
Since they paid for it they may as well use it.

quick back ground: Access 2k dB converted to 97 but created with wizards mostly.
Stumbles over the switchboard on load.

    Set con = Application.CurrentProject.Connection

    Re: Debugging Converted script (ACC97)

You'd be better off opening the database in 97, deleting the switchboard form and then running the switchboard manager add-in from 97. It should find the Switchboard Items table and create a new switchboard for you that works in 97. Otherwise, you have to go through and pick out all the things like CurrentProject and the ADO code the A2k switchboard uses and translate it manually.
