Restoring hidden shapes in Word2000 VBA

I am hiding sections in Word2000 using the VBA statements

With Activedocument
.StoryRanges(wdMainTextStory).Sections(i).Range _
.Font.Hidden = True ' hide text in doc
.Sections(i).Footers(wdHeaderFooterPrimary) _
.Range.Font.Hidden = True ' hide text in footer

I had a lot of trouble unhiding the footers, but that is another posting (

A quick question:

Do you have the option of making these inline shapes rather than floating? - that way each shape would "live" in its respective storyrange.

An inline shape can only be a picture, an OLE object, or an ActiveX control. I want a box to frame the page, but do not like the page border under

It sounds like the objects are being deleted when you hide the section. If it was hidden then the count should still count it.

Is there a good reason for needing section breaks to delimit what gets hidden. By a good reason, I mean to restart page numbering or to change the page setup. Text content can be changed other ways and bookmarked text could be hidden or revealed easily enough.

Re: Restoring hidden shapes in Word2000 VBA

Thanks for the input. I am using separate sections because I have separate footers for each section as well as different margins in a few cases. I will think long and hard about using bookmarks. Perhaps I can simulate the footers (most of my sections are one page long) and over-ride the margins with paragraph formatting. I keep feeling that the basic problem is my lack of in-depth understanding of how layers (storyparts) interact with sections.
