Column widths not staying put after closing (97)

I keep having to reformat the width of my columns. I set them so all the text is visible but the next time I open the spread sheet the column widths have decreased a bit. When I open and close it a few times all the columns on some of the worksheets reduce to almost nothing. It happens on some spread sheets more than others.

Is the sheet on 100% zoom? If not, try if setting it to 100 helps.
Otherwise, I would suspect the screen driver to be causing havoc.

Thank you for your reply Jan

The sheet was set to 100%. I'll have a look into the screen driver as the culprit .

    No macro's involved?

The problem was happening in a number of different spread sheets, some have macros but most don't.

I have protected some worksheets but left all the cells that I work in unlocked. This seams to be working.

What about a macro in a global workbook, like personal.xls?

Does your problem disappear when you load XL without any add-ins or workbooks from XLSTART:

    Start, Run,
    "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeExcel.exe" /Automation

Quotes mandatory, Note you may have to change the path.
