    Help! (Word 2000)

I have this problem for which I can't find a solution in the Word "Help" files nor in any of my numerous Word pubs.

I clicked on 'Edit' in my menu bar, and inadvertently dragged it down into a document. Now it is gone! How can I get this back, short of re-installing Word? Or can I? There must be a simple solution to this dumb problem.

    Thanks.

    Hi StuartR --

Thanks for your response. However, that didn't do it. Unless I need to get all the way out (reboot) for it to take effect. Just restarting Word didn't bring it back.

I have installed WOPR from the disk in "Using MS Office 2000." Could that have anything to do with it?? My stupid error was made after that was installed.

Just to check that I have understood correctly, are you missing the Edit menu, as circled in this picture?

If so then reset of the menu bar should have fixed it. The only other suggestion I can make is to rename Normal.DOT to Normal.Saved (or something) and see if that makes it reappear.

You can manually add this back - click Tools, Customize, select the Command tab. On the left, select Built in menus, on the right, look for Edit. CLICK AND DRAG this item (EDIT) back up to the menu.

Just to be certain...when you click on Tools > Customize, Toolbars tab, you must select Menu Bar (not click on the check box, but actually click on the words "Menu Bar" so the line is highlighted) before you click on Reset.
