    Can I Mix & Match Office ver? (O97-sr2 & O2k-1a%

Hi, lounge newbie here w/ bizarre question:

I've just finished the "shakedown" phase of a new Windows 2k (w/ sp2) install.
I'm ready to install Office. In examining the new O2k Small Bus Edition
that I have I see that it doesn't include Access which is the *main*
Office app that I want. I also have a copy of O97-sr2. So i'm wondering
    - can I use Access from O97 together w/ Word & Excel 2k? Will they play
    nice together?

If so should I install Access97 first and then Word / Excel 2k?

I have very limited need of any of the Office apps. I don't use Outlook
or OE. IE 5.0 is my #3 browser - 15 min a week. So buying a more
extensive ver of O2k is not an option.

    tia,

In our company it is standard (for now) - Office 2k SR1 SP2 without Access & Outlook (we use Lotus Notes) with Access97. You can install Office 2k first, then from Office97 custom installation uncheck everything except Access and install it to default folder (the same as Office2k). If you don't use Access for extensive programming, this configuration is OK.
Among disadvantages is: you must install Office Shortcut Bar manually if you want use it (copy shortcut to Office Shortcut Bar from Microsoft Office Tools to Startup folder).
Don't forget to apply all Office security patches (there is none for Access97 if you install it from Office 97 SR2b disc.)

    Thanks for replying!

So it loks like you're recommending this sequence:
Inst O2k "base" (word & excel)
    install sr1a
    install sp2 (since I don't use Outlook)
install Access 97 (from sr2 cd)
