    Cursor

Not sure if this an Access problem or windows.

On opening my DB the cursor blinks in the focused text for about three or four times (inconsistantly) and then disapears.

This only happens in Access and no other program.

    Any-one seen this before.

    Re: Cursor

    Which version of Windows?

    Which version of Access?

After you close the open window (Alt+F4) is everything back to normal?

The cursor seems ok in other windows applications, obviously an Access problem.
    Any Idea's

    Re: Cursor

what exactly do you mean by
<hr>On opening my DB the cursor blinks in the focused text for about three or four times <hr>
This isn't as self-explanatory as you think. What are you displaying when the database opens, the database window, a splash screen, a switchboard, a form, what? And what is the "focused text"? Are you talking about the first control on a form or something else? Are you talking about the mouse cursor? Are you talking about a field you've clicked with the mouse or something else?

If no one else has seen this, it isn't so much an Access problem as an Access problem on *your* setup. In order to figure out what might be causing it, we have to know a lot more about what you're doing.

    Re: Cursor

The form opens with a text being the first control.
If I move to another control, (Textbox), the same happens.

    (Cursor for entering data)

    Re: Cursor

Do you have any code executing behind the form, either in OnOpen or OnCurrent? By cursor for entering data do you mean the insertion cursor (I-beam) or the mouse cursor (arrow)? If you move the mouse, does the pointer become visible again? We are talking about the pointer disappearing, right, not the highlight?

    Re: Cursor

Try to nail down where exactly the problem is:
<UL><LI>Does it happen in all forms in all Access databases? If so, it might be problem with Access, or perhaps with an add-in.
If you have add-ins loaded, what happens if you disable them, and then quit and restart Access?

<LI>Does it happen in all forms in one database only? If so, it might be a problem with that database.
Is there an AutoExec macro? If so, what does it do?
Is there an AutoKeys macro? If so, which keys are redefined?
As Charlotte asked, what code is executed when the startup form is loaded (OnOpen, OnLoad, OnActivate, OnCurrent)?
What happens if you open the database whith Shift held down, and then open a form? Is there a difference in behaviour between the startup form and other forms?

<LI>Does it happen in one form in one database only? If so, it might be a problem with that one form.
What code is executed when the offending form is loaded (OnOpen, OnLoad, OnActivate, OnCurrent)?
What happens if you open the database whith Shift held down, and then open that form?[/list]

Are you using the OnCurrent event incorrectly?
