    svchost.exe

I've been running the factory edition of Win2k on a ThinkPad from Day 1 and have recently begun experiencing challenges with the < svchost.exe > file.

The ThinkPad has been connected to a cable modem and has ZA Pro for protection. My ISP is on a VPN and I've had great success "piggy-backing" the cable connection to send/receive email.

In addition to the freezing of Outlook 2000 anytime I try to access the Calendar, the < svchost.exe > file gives error messages that Outlook has been shut down and must restart.

On a fresh cold boot I can see that there are two 'copies' of < svchost.exe > running in the background.

Any advice on gettign life back to normal aside from a complete format, reinstall?

I'm relieved to know it's okay to have more than one 'copy' running. Thanks.

How do I make it happy without wanting it to keep making me reboot?

    Scott,
Are you saying the problems you are experiencing are all Outlook based?

    >all Outlook based?
= Hmm... it's starting to seem that way now, yes. At first i thought it was a Win2k issue.

    Thanks for clearing the fog!

    Re: svchost.exe

(#2) Perhaps this isn't all Outlook based as I thought... after a cold boot and instant Internet access from the cable modem, I closed IE 6, tried logging in to the VPN so I could make use of Outlook, and then received the same svchost.exe error message (closing down - will need to restart the program)

    What do you see?
