    Calling Help File

    Hi All,
    I have successfully created a help file for my application. If I double click on it in Windows Explorer, it opens correctly, but when I try to call it I get a procedure code 5

    Sub ROE_HLP()
    Dim sPath As String
    sPath = ThisWorkbook.Path
    Shell sPath & "ROE_HLP.hlp", vbNormalFocus
    End Sub

    What am I doing wrong?

    Re: Calling Help File

    Jim,

    If you want to call the help file from a simple button click, you should add the following code to the button click-event:

    Application.Help Thisworkbook.Path & "Myapp.hlp"

    This can be used for both hlp-files (the older traditional microsoft help files) or chm-files (the newer html helpfiles) in Excel 2000. In Excel 97, this command can probably result in ocx-errors (depending on how recent the hh...ocx file is, sorry, can't remember the exact name of the ocx that might cause problems) when trying to launch html (chm) helpfiles.
