Cc autocorrect (Word XP)

BESIDES turning off the autocorrect of "Capitalize first letters of sentences", is there a way to have Word not autocorrect cc: or bcc: into Cc: and Bcc:?

Autocorrect is what causes that to happen. The only other option I know of is to immediately Undo (press Ctrl+Z) after you type the word that was autocorrected. This will undo the capitalization on a "manual" basis, but leave it on for the times you need it.

In Word 97 you can indicate Exceptions: Tools/AutoCorrect, Exceptions. Does XP have this? Good luck.

Alas, the exceptions do not allow for cc: or bcc: -- neither are they allowed to be "autoformats" for Cc: or Bcc: Here's how to do it (one of Woody's tips from way back):

Record cc: and bcc: as autotext entries.

"Autocorrect" is then stymied and you don't have to uncheck the checkbox.

Hi Van:
I just tried it in Word 2000. It didn't work. I can press F3 to uncapitalize the first letter now, but Ctrl+Z is about as easy. Have you tried it in Word 2000?

Should they be AutoCorrect entries, or would that be like having the dog chase its own tail?

Hi Jefferson:
I don't know. I've tried everything & can't change the cc: & bcc: corrections, other than not to use the option to capitalize the first letter in a sentence. You would think that that would be built directly into Word, wouldn't you? I haven't found the article in WOW yet.

Huh. It worked for me. Did you include the : and the space in your autotext entry?

Hi Van:
Yes, I did. However, I just realized that this thread was about 2002. I tried it on Word 2000. Do you know if it is supposed to work with 2000. I'll try it with Word 97 later today.

Strange. That works if you don't create a new document. Useless.

Now, testing on WD97, the "chasing its tail" option with recording replace Bcc: with bcc:, etc. works and in new documents as well.

Re: Cc autocorrect (Word XP)

Hi Van:
I tried it in Word 97 & it works (don't need a space after, either). Jefferson's post didn't register with me at first (must have been to late at night ). It's autocorrect, not autotext entries. I'll try it later with Word 2000, but I'm sure it'll work.

I think I was replacing cc: with cc: or something like that.
