I don't know how to send escape characters, but if you add an empty page header with the hight of 1 line, you could begint to print on the first line.

Well, I don't really understand why you want to print on the second line.
But if you can't because the printer top margin is to big, I would create a page header on the report with a height of 1 line. Nothing in the header, its like it print 1 blank line.
For the data, there is no need any more to beginning to print on the second line as the header was the first line.

Now that I writing this, why don't you increase the top margin to begin to print on the right place. All the headers or second line problem would disapear?
Or are I missing something about that second line ?

    Hi Francois

    Sorry.

    Did'nt make myself clear.

Trying to fill in data on a pre-printed form.

First line starts on line 2 of the form, no matter what I try, my first line prints on line 3, so the the pre-printed boxes I'm trying fill in is off by one line.

Access tries to print according to the layout of the report. Have you checked the page setup on the report? You do have a report laid out to match the preprinted form, right?

What happens if you change the page setup in design view of the report ?

    John,

I've never seen a laser printer than would print any closer to the paper edge than 0.25" from Windows. There may be a trick for it, but I don't know it. Have you tried a http://www.google.com group search to see if this question has been addressed anywhere?

Re: Trying to Print on Line 2? (A2k (9.0.3821) SR-1)

    Hi Hans

    2 was a typo, I ment .2

At a customer site today, I ran same report on a HP Laser Jet 6P and was able to to set Top Margin to .083

I guess some printers have limitations as to how close to the top margin you can print.

Has anybody had any experience working with the PrintLayoutObject

Looks like this is where I have to go to override the setup and default driver settings.

In DOS I can do this:

    set %topmargin1 = '027038108049069' @ 048 = line 0, 049 = line 1, 050 = line 2, 051 =line 3 (default)
    title %topmargin1

    to to the override.

    Thanks, John

    Another <img src=/S/2cents.gif border=0 alt=2cents width=15 height=15>
My Hp 4550 top margin can be set to 1.02 mm = 0.04 inches.
That's 2 HP that can set small top margin.
Did your OkiData 830 have a mode to simulate HP printer ?
If yes and you install a hp driver, maybe you can reduce the top margin.

    Forget my previous post.
According the manual of the OKIDATA 830 on the site from OKI, even in HP emulation, the minimum margin is 1/4 of an inch.

I suspect what the ESC codes are doing in DOS is fooling the printer into thinking the top of the paper is somewhere else. We used to do something like this with dot matrix printers too, they actually got rolled back up a line or two before the printing started.
