    Strange Error (A2K SR1a Win98SE)

I've been getting an unusual error -- at least to me -- for the past few days.

After several hundred of these "Close Buttons" and "Add New Record Buttons" I've started getting the attached.

The strange part is that there's no macro anywhere. The code is the usual DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmFormName" syntax.

I tried repairing the Office Installation and no dice. The only way I could get it to work was to delete and re-create the form Then it worked.

Have had the problem on several forms and it's driving me nuts (which is admittedly a short drive).

    Thanks <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15>

    Re: Strange Error (A2K SR1a Win98SE)

About a week ago, I have an application that was running for years, that begin to give strange errors.
Thanks to Leif, I discover that the computer was infected with the Klez virus.
Look to the link on this post. They have a utility to detect and repair if your pc is infected with the Klez virus.
After removing the virus I had to remove Office (with the eraser utility of Microsoft) and reinstall it.
    Hope this help.

You can get this message when a custom control goes bad or when automation code fails as well. There doesn't have to be a macro involved at all, but a bad reference to an ActiveX control on the form being closed can cause it. I'd start with Francois's suggestion and make sure you aren't Klez-infected. Then check your references.

    Francois and Charlotte:

    Many thanks for the pointers.

This type of help is what makes me a major fan of the lounge ... sort of like studying Philosophy at the feet of Plato.
