Template preview (Word 2000)

I'd like to know how to include a preview in a Word template, so that the preview is visible when the user selects File -> New.

    thanks

Use the same method which you would use with a document; i.e., go to File > Properties, Summary tab, select Save preview picture, then save the template.

    Here is the recipe:

Open the template.

Select File / Properties.

Select the Summary tab.

Make sure the Save Preview Picture box is checked.

Click OK.

Save the template.
Be aware that:

The usefulness of a preview is limited - it depends on the contents of your template.

Your template and documents will be much larger than without the preview.
Thank you Hans and Gary. Didn't realise it was so simple but may need some thought to make the thumbnail preview "useful", as you say.

    cheers
